I had thought about doing a piece like this for a long, long time. Transforming the cartoon-ish characters of the Mario Bros. games into something more my style. So I decided to focus solely on the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES, and this was my outcome. For the time being I am incredibly satisfied with this piece. I think it retains a lot of the vibrancy of the actual world created by Miyamoto and Nintendo, but is also able to transform it into something a little darker, and a little more my style.
Wow. This is great. Mario and Luigi look so stoic (and I'm glad you included Luigi, he's so neglected!). Bowser is freaking scary! The whole thing is just so well put together. Wonderful!

If Nintendo for some reason decided to make a mature mario game likewise to Zelda, it'd probrably turn out something like your drawing. lol. I love the details. : )
This is so unique and very almost gothic. The style reminds me of that game "American McGee's Alice". Nice work!

Beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it's the middle that counts the most. You need to remember that when you find yourself at the beginning.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
